As the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, Tarangire should not be overlooked as one of the key attractions for safari. It is well known for its incredibly diverse vegetation, not found anywhere else in the northern circuit.
The Tarangire River, which runs through the park, is the primary source of water for game during the dry season. Tarangire’s vegetation is denser than the Serengeti’s and, between June and October, large herds are drawn to the river. At this time the elephant numbers are spectacular.
